The Doctors

Powers & Jans Centre has a team of three chiropractors to serve our patients. Patients may choose a particular doctor while having the freedom to see any of the other doctors whose schedule may be more convenient for the patient. An added benefit is that the doctors may consult on challenging cases, so patients can benefit from the collective wisdom of all the doctors.

My wife Pamela and I have three grown sons. Although our family is spread across the continent, family is still my number one priority. Family holidays together are still special times for each of us. Church life is also very important to me. I am an active member of Crossroads Church.

Born in Maple Creek, SK, I was raised in Redcliff, AB where I received my primary education. I graduated from Medicine Hat High School and attended the University of Alberta, NAIT, and Athabasca University before starting chiropractic college. My chiropractic education began at Life University in Marietta, GA and I graduated with honours from Life Chiropractic College - West, Hayward, CA in 1984. After graduation I returned to Medicine Hat and began practice in 1985. In 1990, Dr. Rick Powers and I amalgamated our individual practices to provide better chiropractic care to the people of the Medicine Hat area.

Although I use a variety of chiropractic techniques depending on a patient's individual needs, my specialty is using low force Activator Methods. I achieved Advanced Proficiency Rating with Activator Methods, and have maintained this status since 1987. Encouraging healthy lifestyles and good nutrition for my patients are also prominent areas of my practice. My goal is to help the sick and hurting to become well and then helping those people maintain their health through natural chiropractic methods.

I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised on a farm outside the town of Shoal Lake, Manitoba. I did my undergrad studies in Physical Education at the University of Manitoba. During my studies, I visited a chiropractor who was giving a public chiropractic talk. This is where I fell in love with the powerful chiropractic message and knew then I wanted to be a chiropractor.

Soon after, I moved to Marietta, Georgia for chiropractic studies at Life University. I graduated with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in June, 2001.

In July, 2002, I moved to Calgary beginning both private, chiropractic practice and starting a family. My wife, Claudia, and I have two sons, Thorin and Roman.

My chiropractic focus is wellness-based family care. I pride myself on both delivering quality, chiropractic care and inspiring patients how to take control of their health. I'm also passionate about serving the surrounding community with advanced chiropractic and wellness talks.

My passions involve outdoor adventure pursuits, sports and fitness, and, of course, chiropractic.
